On Saturday September 28, 2002, the Ohio Area Pantheists (OAP) held the OAP Autumn Gathering at the Punderson
Manor Resort and Conference Center in Newbury, Ohio. Newbury, Ohio is located
approximately 50 minutes South East of Cleveland, Ohio. In attendance were me
(Tony Ferraro) and my assistant, Angie, Walter Mandell, Alan Peters, and Rick Davis.
The gathering
started in the main lodge of the Punderson Manor Resort called The Manor House, which is a historic English Tudor Style mansion
where guests can reserve a variety of sleeping quarters. In the Manor House,
we made our way to our reserved table in the Cherry Dining Room. Our table was
located in front of a large window overlooking Punderson Lake. Over lunch we
socialized and discussed a little business. Also, during our lunch, Rick Davis
showed us beautiful photographs of his recently born Grandson. I especially enjoyed
that experience.

After lunch we headed for the great outdoors to explore a few
of Punderson State Park's scenic places. My assistant Angie and I brought along
a digital camera to capture some of the breathtaking scenery, which I will post on the Internet very soon. [Editor's Note: See link to additional photos, below.] It sure was a beautiful day for picture taking! The sun's rays peaked through some occasional clouds that complimented a gentle cool
breeze. I thought this kept the temperature very comfortable.
The first place we explored was near the
Manor House where we enjoyed a nice view of Punderson Lake and walked along a trail.
The trail guided us into a forest area. It felt great being surrounded
by the beautiful tall trees. After walking a short way down the trail, we turned
back and made our way back to our vehicles.

Next, we drove to a camping area on the other side of Punderson
Lake and parked. After that, we walked along a paved road that led us uphill
where we had an awe-inspiring view of Stump Lake and surrounding trees. Some
of the leaves on the trees had their fall colors. It was so beautiful that I
almost shed a tear. Eventually, we reached a shaded picnic area where we took
a little rest before returning to our vehicles.
We then drove to the Boat Concession on the north side of Punderson
Lake where we hung out on a dock. The scenery at this vantage point was wonderful. After this, it was time to go home.
I had a fantastic time and I am looking forward
to our Winter Gathering.
